The most recent contribution to the study of German Viking age coinage is Sebastian Steinbach's impressive dissertation on the coinage of the monasteries. It does not only cover the respective mints, coins and coin finds but also the corresponding written sources.

The Dutch Geldmuseum (“Moneymuseum”) in Utrecht was opened to the public yesterday.

The latest issue of the Swedish online magazine Myntstudier contains, inter alia, an article celebrating Gert Rispling's 65th birthday and includes his bibliography (by Kenneth Jonsson, pp. 1-7). Moreover, Svein Gullbekk puts forward the argument that there was a religious motivation behind the monetization in the later Middle Ages, too (pp. 30-32).
